CIVIC AWARD 2009

"The garden is a hidden gem and an oasis of peace just off Cheltenham's busy High Street. The result of a local community effort, even in the winter the garden was well maintained, and attractive, contrasting with the summer colour of planting.

The story boards relate the garden's historical connections with Edward Jenner and the adjacent Cheltenham Chapel. This restored garden is another part of Cheltenham's rich character brought back to life."

CHELTENHAM IN BLOOM AWARD

In 2009, Jenner Gardens were awarded an "Outstanding Achievement" award.

NEIGHBOURHOOD AWARD

Also in 2009, Jenner Gardens were awarded a Merit in the RHS Britain in Bloom Neighbourhood Awards.

Representatives of the Friends of Jenner Gardens and CBC Operations attended the Heart of England in Bloom award ceremony in Pershore Abbey on September 3rd of that year.

The judges' comments praised the community involvement in fundraising, the quality of the landscape works and the colourful planting scheme. They made particular note of the reduction in anti-social activity which has been brought about by the restoration of the graveyard.
